Ok, despite this being a day to celebrate, shit weather is back in Paris, but amongst the truckload of bad news from yesterday came the latest newsletter from our Portland hero, Community Library man of the hour Paul Dickow AKA Strategy. He published seven years ago a brilliant dub 7″ on a Tigerbeat6 offshoot that still inspires us and he just announced a follow up :
“– “Dub In My System” / “Hardware Dub” 7″ – ZamZam Sounds ZamZam03- I am often asked when I’ll do more dub like the old Shockout 7″, and our loyal local dub DJ’s were ‘shaking the tree’ for Strategy tracks in that style. It’s a huge honor to be on this amazing new label! Out July 31! Or order now here”
Even better news, a new album is due for Fall later this year, the follow up to his 2007 Future Rock masterpiece that climbed very near the top of the Wire‘s annual charts.
“- Strategy (self-titled) LP – Peak Oil OIL01 – September 25 – My first new album since 2008!! This picks up where Future Rock left off (literally) in a cauldron of experimental pop, dub mixing, and audio soup. My first album to feature the extensive use of guest instrumentalists including members of Units, City Center, Benoit Pioulard, Evolutionary Jass Band, Gulls, Spirit Duplicator, One Human Minute, Jetfinger…Limited to 300 LP’s and digital on this new Los Angeles label (their 2nd release to be M. Geddes Gengras “Personable” project). Cover to feature special “optical illusion” graphics.”
Here you get an idea of from where this may go :
